Beach surveillance at Vieux-Boucau, Messanges and Moliets: safe swimming

Where to swim safely in Vieux-Boucau, Messanges and Moliets this summer?

On the south coast of the Landes region, the Atlantic Ocean is as beautiful as it is powerful. To ensure that swimming remains a pleasure in complete safety, the beaches of Vieux-Boucau, Messanges and Moliets are supervised all summer by teams of qualified lifeguards.

📍 Where can I swim safely?

  • Vieux-Boucau: the central beach is supervised from mid-June to mid-September. This is the busiest beach, ideal for families thanks to its proximity to shops and entertainment.
  • Messanges: the south beach is also under strict surveillance, surrounded by dunes and a vast pine forest. Perfect for lovers of peace and nature.
  • Moliets-et-Maa: the main beach, at the mouth of the Huchet current, has a modern first-aid post. There are also well-defined areas for surfers and swimmers.

Supervised safety

Rescue stations are open every day in high season, with variable opening times depending on weather conditions. Colored flags indicate the level of safety:

🟢 Swimming allowed
🟡 Swimming with caution
🔴 Swimming prohibited

Lifeguards are also on hand to warn the public, monitor the currents in the bay, and intervene quickly if necessary.

🌊 Our tips

  • Only swim in supervised areas.
  • Follow lifeguards’ instructions and road signs.
  • Avoid areas with strong currents (bayes), even if the water seems calm.
  • Keep a close eye on your children, even on the beach.

Spending your vacation in the Landes means enjoying the ocean in complete peace of mind. Thanks to the active presence of lifeguards, you can relax, have fun and enjoy summer with your feet in the water… with complete confidence.
